The city shut down,
We were told not to play
So we sat in the house,
For weeks and for days.

We sat there we two
My hubby and me
We stayed in our house
As if nothing to do.

Too old to go out
Too young to stay in
At 60 years old
Where did we fit in?

And all we could do
Was to sit, or have a fit
And we did not like it
Not one little bit.

And then oh that germ
How that germ made us squirm
It jumped when we dared
To open the door
It poked when we bent down
To touch the floor.

It said to us
“Why do you sit there like that?
I know folks are sick
With stuff called corona
But in my opinion
That’s phony balogna.

“I know some good places to shop,”
Said the Bug
“You’ll find soap, toilet paper
And water in a jug.

“A lot of good stuff
I will show them to you
Your family and friends
will be so proud of you.”

And hubby and I
Did not know what to say
Our family was out
Of the house for that day.

But our conscience said “no!
Make that Bug go away

Tell that Bug from a Bat

To just go away

He should not be here, he should not be about,

He should not be here,

And don’t you go out!”

But that bug was a lump
We did not know what to do
As he skipped and he jumped
From Thing 1 to Thing 2.

So hubby and I
We sat there and pondered
We now have a choice
Of which way to wander

Do we just follow
The Bug from the Bat –
By leaving the house,
To this and to that?

Or do we stay put
Right under our roof –
Be safe and be healthy,
As clear as this spoof?

Should we choose
The staying at home-
It’s boring sometimes,
When we’re all alone?

Or should we go out –
And have fun in the sun-
And dance with the Bug,
And then he’ll have won?
