Restraint
I have been thinking about restraint a lot. It is not one of my strong points.
Restraint regarding what I say (or not).
What I eat.
How much I choose to keep myself busy, and with what pastimes.
What thoughts I let go through my head.
What I write in this blog or don’t write.
Self improvement, growth, motivation. All important qualities for moving forward
Are there limits to how much self-improvement one can achieve. Limits to creativity? Limits to growth? Limits to motivation?
Probably. Everything in moderation. Our Sages have taught us that there is a “golden path,” the middle road – nothing too extreme.
What is extreme for one, may be not enough for another.
So each person has to decide what his or her own Truth is. What works for that person.
We need restraint on our growth – restraint on our motivation. We don’t want to move too far too fast, or do we?
Maybe every step is growth?
Or is it like exercise – we don’t want to overdo it?
Do we need to restrain ourselves from growing too much too quickly?
Hmmm. All questions worth pondering. I’d like to read some opinions and comments regarding this from readers of this blog.

I like the Golden Mean. Even positive changes are hard to maintain if you move to quickly to adopt them. Most of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in life have been from lacking patience.
