Pajama Party Follow-Up
A few people have asked me, “so how did the p.j party go? Was it fun?”
So here’s the follow-up to last week’s pajama party which I had posted about in anticipation of what I thought was going to be really loud, dramatic and lots and lots of fun.
In a word: fun.
Yes – it was lots of fun for the kids and the grandma (me!) as well.
For those readers who are in the dark about this supposed Big Event for this grandmother, I will recap. My grandson and his little friend slept over at our house Friday night after dinner. It was a long-awaited event, one that the two little boys were planning and talking about for weeks.
I usually avoid boring follow-ups, wondering if anyone really cares. But since people have asked me, I will overcome my grandmother shyness (NOT) and provide the recap here.
Did it go as “planned?” (whatever that means – for two 4-year olds!)
No.
The minute the kids hit their pillows –after a short squabble between the two of them about who gets which bed followed by a quick dose of “eeny meeny miney moe” — they settled down and fell asleep.
And they woke up in the morning at about 7:30 and 8:30 respectively.
No drama. No popcorn all night. No giggling.
Wow – that was easy!
Some things do work out in life smoother than expected. Here I was prepared (actually excited) for a loud, boisterous and playful overnight at my home.
It turned out to be uneventful.
Sometimes I wonder if I expect drama too much in my life. Things can be calm and that’s fine too. Thank G-d for calm, joyful events.
Something for me to think about.
