Happiness is…
Remember the Peanuts characters? Which one was the character who used to say “Happiness is…?”
Was that Lucy? Or was it Linus? Or was it Charlie Brown? Or maybe it was Snoopy?
I don’t recall who it was, but I do find that these days more things make me happy.
And more things make me sad.
But still – this post is focusing on what makes me happy.
This week marked the beginning of the Jewish month of Adar when we are focusing on bringing happiness into our lives. The Hebrew word for happy is “simcha.” Simcha means happy tidings. During the month of Adar, we celebrate the holiday of Purim.
Happiness is doing very little, and being okay with that.
Basically, I don’t have to be busy all the time. I can relax and enjoy just being with myself these days and I’m okay with that.
Happiness is realizing that my to-do lists don’t have to get done today, because they will get done when they get done.
Happiness is being grateful for so many things in our lives, in my life, and taking it all in. Happiness is laughing and joking with my grandchildren.
Happiness is praying for those who need our prayers and feeling happy that we have a G-d and a Faith.
Happiness is knowing that as difficult as things get, there is always something bigger and better to learn from, to grow and to look forward to that is just around the corner. Happiness is seeing things with the cup half full – not half empty.
Happiness is words and thoughts; music and ideas; friendship and flowers; comfort and kindness.
Happiness is…

Happiness is enjoying life as what it is. Menikmati hidup apa adanya. Bersama keluarga.

Measuring your personal progress and appreciating what G-d’s given you, instead of measuring yourself against others and complaining about what He hasn’t given you.
