Art and Magnadoodle
On a recent trip to visit our out-of-town grandchildren, we spent some quality time just hanging out. No fancy trips, no major visiting myriad cousins. Just plain bonding.
One of the things we bonded over was art. My grandson likes to draw. Besides for paper, crayons and markers he draws on his Magnadoodle. This toy is similar to the “Etch-a-Sketch” that we grew up using.
Instead of drawing with the knobs on either side of the Etch-a-Sketch, the child draws with a stylus or pencil attached to the magnadoodle. I noted the kinds of things he drew on his magnadoodle.
What do children like to draw?
Nature: Flowers, grass, sky, sun.
Food: Ice cream cones
People: Mother, father, family, stick figures.
Share below what kinds of drawings your children or grandchildren like to draw.

We’re still at the circle stage- but look forward to more art projects. Just heard we’re expecting #4 end of the summer!

Don’t forget houses! My granddaughter loves to draw those. There’s a wonderful ‘test’ for handwriting skills in early children which asks the children to draw a house and a sun and a tree. (I’m not exactly sure what the exact components of the test are-but it includes the sun and tree for sure). From such a picture. one can determine the ‘readiness’ of a child for reading and writing!

That sounds like a great test to assess reading readiness. Very cool. Of course, who can forget those houses with the chimney smoke coming out of it? LOL Thanks!!
