Song to G-d from Camp Corona
(Sung to the tune of “Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah” )
Based on Ponchielli’s “Dance of the Hours” (1871), and “Hello Muddah….Camp Grenada” music sung by Allan Sherman (1963)
HELLO G-d, we need to phone-Ya
Here we are in Camp Corona
How do we know if we’re gonna…
Survive right now, we just really feel alone-a?!
First was China, next Korea
Next Iran, and then Italia
Entire world has caught the virus
Reminiscent of diseases like Malaria!
Through the whole world, schools a-closing
People fearful – no one’s dozing
Folks are shopping, shelves are lacking
People hoarding up with stuff, and boxes stacking
You remember 9-11
All we did was cry to heavens
Then our troubles from those ISIS
Were averted, as our G-d relieved that crisis.
REFRAIN: Make this end, we pray we hope
Vaccine, please send, so we can cope
Cure the virus from adults and kids
Co-ro-na, insidious
It spreads and moves, oblivious
To all the lives it’s ruining in our midst!
****************
Gyms are shuttered, we’re avoiding,
Streets are empty, don’t be loitering,
Every day a new instruction
Minimize our interactions…
Kids are home now, get the toys out
Show our kindness, let’s not name shout
Clean for Pesach, here’s your chances
Turn the music on, break out with the dances!
REFRAIN: Make this end, we pray we hope……
Dearest G-d, we know You’re able
To resolve and keep us stable
Let us hope that things get better,
And we’ll tell You then to disregard this letter!
REFRAIN: Make this end, we pray, we hope……
