The other day I realized it was time to buy myself a present, a new bag or purse. The purse I already had, aside from being worn out, too small, and without the necessary number and placement of zippered compartments, had a broken outer zipper.

I had just flown to New York and twice had items fall out of my open purse/pocketbook at the airport. (In New York, a “purse” is called a “pocketbook” or “bag”).

So it was time to  buy a new purse for myself. I walked into a Bag and Purse Store and after perusing various bags which were way out of my league because of their prices being higher than the cost of all the purses, pocketbooks, and bags I’ve owned in my entire life, (pause for deep breath) I saw… The Bag.

The Bag

It was bright, big, bold and loud. By “loud” I mean it was calling my name – loudly.  By “bright” I mean that it was  orange with a big pink pocket and a loud gold chain.

It called my name. It looked like a  fun purse/pocketbook/bag; I knew I’d have a great time carrying it around without  sorting through myriad junk before finding my ringing cell phone.

The price was right, the colors were cool and the size was super.

It was love at first sight. So…I bought The Bag.

While I was paying for it, the guy casually mentioned that he only had “one left,” and this was his last one. “One left” is  a phrase that when uttered by salesmen endears potential buyer to said product even more.

Wow! I got the last one. How lucky is that?

I have had The Bag for three days. So far so good. Zipper works.

It even matches my gym shoes/sneakers/tennis shoes (depending where you live) that have bright pink laces.

Its front pocket comfortably secures my cell phone. There is  a place for everything and everything in it’s place, and I am a happy woman.

Isn’t it amazing how little it takes to make this grandmother happy?

I highly recommend you go out and buy yourself a loud, bold, big, and colorful bag! It might just be a great pick-me-up for you! Try purple and yellow so if we meet we will each feel unique and special.
